57 travel tips for San José – Terminal 7-10 - share your tips below!

  1. Linda

We are traveling today 22nd of March, 2019 from San Jose to La Fortuna.
There is just one bus left – 8:40!
And you have to be at Terminal 7-10 at about 7:30 better to be sure you will get ticket! Bus is full!
There is one stop for wc at Ciudad Quesada if im correct.
Price was 1700 colones / person!

  2. Natalie Hughes

Hi! I will be travelling from San Jose to the NEXUS Yoga institute in Playa Guiones and I would assume I would take the one and only 5:30am bus from San Jose to Nosara is that correct? Also do I need to reserve a head of time or just buy a ticket the day of?
Thanks in advance for any and all advice 🙂

  3. Shauna

We are trying to go from San Jose to Ciudad Quesada. It looks like there’s a direct bus, but I’ve seen 2 different schedules. How do we find the correct one? And does anyone know if the bus has air conditioning? Does the San Carlos / Ciudad Quesada station have WiFi so that we can get an Uber?

    • centrocoasting

Hi Shauna, the schedule is posted on the 7-10 website. I can’t 100% confirm if it’s correct as I haven’t been there in a bit. http://terminal7-10.com/en/rutas/san-carlos-2/ You can also check the La Fortuna page on centrocoasting. Travellers write about their experience and one woman just did the 8:40 bus. The bus has a/c but I don’t know if the terminal in Ciudad Quesada has wifi.

    • Celina

The direct bus from San Jose to La Fortuna departs from Terminal 7-10, at 5:30, 8:0 am and one at 12:00pm. I intended to take the 12:00 pm and went to the Terminal one hour ahead. That particular bus was old out but we were able to buy tickets to Ciudad Quesada and once there found the bus to La Fortuna. It’s a bit confusing because for one bus you have to buy or reserve seats ahed, way ahead. For other like the one Quesada – La Fortuna, you pay on the bus.

  4. Taya

Took a bus from San Jose to Tamarindo. The online schedule said one was leaving at 10 am. Turns out it was leaving at 11:30 am. It took 6 and a half hours and cost C5635

    • centrocoasting

Hi Taya, thanks. I just had a look a their website and it says 11:30 online now. 🙂

  5. Romina

Hola ! que opcion existe para llegar del aeropuerto de san jose hasta la fortuna a las 5 pm ?

  6. Mary Oseroff

Bus leaves Monteverde for San Jose at 5:30 am now, instead of 6:30 am.
Try the app Moovit for information on local busses.
Tricopa Bus from Quepos (Manual Antonio) to San Jose was air conditioned.

    • centrocoasting

Thanks for catching that incorrect time for Monteverde, Mary. We had changed it on the Monteverde page but forgot to here!

      • Daniel

San Jose to Monteverde is 6:30am. I took this bus on 3rd Jan.

It’s just the Monteverde to San Jose bus that is 5:30am.

  7. Bryan

Man, this site is so helpful, thanks very much for all of this information. I’m planning on taking the Alfaro bus from 7-10 to Nosara on Tuesday morning, and I see that you’ve mentioned that surfboards are ok on this bus, but just wanted to ask – does that generally include longer boards? Mine is 7’6″. Thanks again!

    • centrocoasting

HI Bryan! Sorry for the slow reply. I am assuming you have already made the trip. Let us know if there were any issues with the board so we no for future travellers. I am not sure if they have a length limit or not. I’ve always travelled with 5’10 or less! Thanks for the nice words about the site 🙂

  8. Heather

We are arriving at the San Jose airport at 1:30p and are planning to go to La Fortuna. Is this too late to get a bus to La Fortuna?

    • centrocoasting

Hi Heather, you will be too late for buses from San Jose to La Fortuna but there should still be a bus going that way from a terminal near the airport – Terminal Del Norte (aka Terminal de la Radial). You can go from Alajuela to Ciudad Quesada and from there you can get a bus to La Fortuna. There should be a bus at 4pm. I have not done this route but it is one that travellers tell me about often. You can take a bus here in Alajuela. It is not necessary to go to San Jose. You’re best to confirm this with a taxi drive who will take you to the bus terminal.
