The prices have gone up in 2024.
From the El Poy border, you need to take a taxi to Ocotepeque (25L if you take a colectivo), and then to go to Santa Rosa de Copán (150L). The taxi will drop you directly at the colectivo place. And Santa Rosa de Copán itself is worth a visit I think.
Then, to go to Gracias, you can stop near the Banco Atlantida, near the bus station to catch a colectivo to Gracias (70L).
From Gracias to the border El Poy (Honduras/ El Salvador)
take bus to Santa Rosa de Copan 50L, goes every 30 min, first at 7am around one hour
from Santa Rosa de Copan bus to Nuevo Ocotopeque 90L, around 2 hours
from Nuevo Ocotopeque to the border take colectivo for 10L!
Thanks!!
From Santa Rosa’s bus station to Gracias is easy. There are plenty of buses on a good road which will get you there in about 90 minutes for 50 Lempira. It’s a beautiful journey. The return is just as easy from the Gracias bus terminal.
Thanks for the info Shane, I am sure there are travellers who will see this and be grateful for the extra information. Keep the travel info coming if you have more.
