Located way out on the east part of the city near the Airport is the Terminal Mayorero. From here you can get the bus to Matagalpa, Estelí, Jinotega, El Rama, San Carlos and a few smaller, lesser touristed places like Ocotal, Jalapa, Wasala, and Somoto.

Managua to Magatalpa
To Matagalpa there is an express bus which takes 2hrs and it costs 82C$. It leaves every hour from 4:30am to 6:30pm. There is also a regular bus that takes 3hrs and leaves every half hour and costs a bit less. It leaves 18 times per day from 3:45am to 6:30pm – see a photo of the schedule below. You can purchase your ticket at the station and be assigned a seat. You can also take the bus to Jinotega and get of in Matagalpa.
Matagalpa to Managua: Same as above but in reverse!
Managua to Estelí
Several buses per day to Estelí with both regular and expreso buses. The expreso leaves every hour from 4:30am to 6:30pm and takes 2.5hrs and the regular bus that takes 3.5 hrs and costs a bit less – see schedule photo below.
Managua to El Rama
Both regular and expreso options available.
Expreso bus leaves at 6am, 8am and 9am and takes 5hrs and costs 140C$. The regular bus leaves at 5am, 6am, 7:30am, 8:45am, 11:30am, costs 160C$ and takes a whopping 7hrs! The other option is to head to the Mercado Ivan Montenegro and grab a slightly upgraded bus from there.
Airport to Matagalpa
Buses leave from the Terminal Mercado Mayorero, which is about a 5 minute drive from the airport. The bus will pass the bus stop La UNA. To walk there head out of the airport, take a right on the main road and walk about 5 minutes. If you want to be sure you’ll have a good seat you will need to go to the Terminal Mayorero to buy your ticket.
Managua to San Carlos
One helpful traveller sent us the schedule (March 2018):
“Busses leave at Mayereo at 5am, 6am, 7am, 9:15am, 10:15am, 1:30pm, 5pm and 6:30pm. Going back there are also 6 busses going, I only got to know the first 4, leaving at the terminal in San Carlos at 2am (yes very early), 6am, 8am and 10am”.

Managua Mayorero to San Carlos express C$200. Times may have changed slightly, the 1:30pm is now 1:10pm. Buy a ticket ahead of time if possible, or risk standing for 5hrs. Road paved all the way thankfully.
