8 travel tips for Flores - share your tips below!

  1. Julia

Hi, I‘ve done the route from Río Dulce to Flores / to Belize entirely by public bus. Here‘s a breakdown:

Starting in Río Dulce, should work the other way round as well:
    – walk to the town and find the bus terminal, take a bus to „Cadenas“ which is actually Modesto Méndez, costs 20Q
    – from Cadenas, take a bus to Chacte, another 20Q
    – from Chacte, go to San Luís for 12Q
    – from San Luís, take the bus to Poptún for 12Q
    – from Poptún, you can catch a direct bus to Flores/Santa Elena for 40Q
    – from there, there’s a direct bus to the border (Melchor de Mencos) for 40Q

Once crossing the Belize border, there is no bus option, you can either take a taxi to San Ignacio for 20 USD or a taxi to Benque bus station for 7,5 USD and the local bus from there for 2,5 BZD

The whole journey took me about 8-9 hours in total – left 7:30 in the morning, arrived by 4:30 in the afternoon

    hi Guys,

I have recently posted how we crossed the border from Belize into Guatemala and then El Remate, which is on the same coast of lake Peten Itza (where flores is).
Will add more posts, slowly, but this one is already published.
